Temperatures are starting to rise as a new season arrives. With every new season, several fashion trends will follow. Here are a few basics to look out for in the next few months.
Nude and black fabrics were very popular on the runway during fashion month. These are safe options since they are very easy to style and go with practically everything. Going along with the subtle colors, pastels are set to come back to stores this spring. If you want something bolder, try styling warm, rusty red and orange tones. You can use them throughout your entire outfit for a monochromatic look or use one for a nice pop.
Soft and lightweight fabrics like silks, linen, and chiffon are perfect for the warmer weather coming. Printed fabrics are set to be huge this spring and summer. Animal prints, especially cheetah, have returned and have been making their way onto the racks. We are also set to see the classic spring floral print once again. Many designers mixed two or more patterns on the runway, which can be tricky to pull off.
Many looks on the runway feature oversized and loose pieces. Whether the outfits were more feminine or masculine, there was lots of flow and drama within them. You can achieve this with pieces that are baggy, for a masculine look, or feature details like ruffles if you’re looking for something more feminine.
There are many small things that can transform your outfit if used correctly. Bows and ties can enhance the feminity of an outfit while ruching and ruffles can be used to enhance or create curves on slimmer figures. For example, puffy short sleeves are similar to a modern 80’s shoulder pad in which they create the illusion of broad masculine shoulders.
